Knowledge Is Plentiful But Wisdom Is Scarce

Posted by Andrew Van Valer On August - 26 - 2010

Wisdom means more than simply knowing a lot.  Wisdom  is how to use knowledge and put it to good use.  You can find all kinds of information -  on the internet,  books, classes, magazines, all with different people’s knowledge and views.  Just looking up “How To Start A Business”  brings up over seven million different views…. but which one do you read, follow, or implement? Which one is right for you, where you are at, and what you are looking for?

Do people spend enough time and money validating the  quality of the knowledge resource?

As the internet continues to gain popularity, it has been a convenient and powerful knowledge resource. We can find knowledge on websites, forums, blogs, RSS subscription, video hosting sites, expert sites, social networking platforms, and many more. We just need to google relevant information and we can find it.

But where is the wisdom in all of this?  Wisdom is experience-driven and we get more as we get older and do more. Wisdom is also considered to be a rather rare personal trait, although most agree that it can be learned, and maybe even measured. Is the only way to enhance  wisdom through experiences? What are we doing with all the wisdom we already have around us?

I think that is why Social Networking is growing so fast – we are looking for trusted information but more importantly how to use it.

If actions speak louder than our words…..then how do you search out “Wisdom”.

I would love to hear peoples thoughts!
